Negril Restaurant Operator Killed, Czech Visitor Hurt in Westmoreland Robbery

Westmoreland, Jamaica: Police in Negril are investigating a fatal robbery in which a businessman was killed and a tourist wounded at a restaurant on Norman Manley Boulevard on Friday night.
The dead man has been named as 36-year-old Nashon McGibbon, also known as “Bubba,” who operated Flag City Restaurant in Negril. Police reports indicate that the attack happened about 8:40 p.m. while McGibbon was at the premises with staff members and a female visitor from the Czech Republic.
Investigators reported that two men armed with guns rode up to the establishment on a motorcycle, dressed in hooded clothing. They began firing shortly after arriving and then demanded money.
McGibbon is said to have run from the restaurant, but the gunmen pursued him into a nearby open space and shot him several times. Police said the men then took two bags with cash and left the area on the motorcycle.
The Czech tourist was shot in the left shoulder and taken to hospital, where her condition was listed as serious but stable. McGibbon was later transported to Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Residents and business operators in the resort town have expressed concern following the killing. Police said their probe into the deadly robbery is continuing, and no one has been arrested.
