Circuit racing is due back at Dover Raceway on Monday, May 25, with Doug “Hollywood” Gore anticipating a lively Labour Day meet eight months after the venue last staged a race event.

Gore said the aim is to rekindle the partisan atmosphere that once helped make Dover a major motorsport draw. He expects fans to come out backing their preferred teams, with supporters showing their colours and cheering rival drivers across the day.

He said organisers want to rebuild the kind of competition remembered from earlier Dover matchups, including the “Doug and David” era and the “Taz and Tommy” battles. Gore said the plan is to create fresh rivalries that can keep the crowd engaged from start to finish.

Gore is also listed for the headline MP4 race, where he is set to drive The Beast. He said Subaru and Evolution entries are expected to challenge his car and the Audi, setting up what he described as one of the major contests on the programme.

The meet is also expected to feature IP races, with Honda Civics and Toyotas among the cars battling for honours. Gore pointed as well to the Super Streets category, where drivers bring road cars to test their ability on the circuit.

He said that group is important because it gives emerging competitors a chance to develop into the next generation of Jamaican motorsport names, citing the likes of Hollywood, Somerville and Tommy Gore as examples of the standard young racers will be chasing. Gore said three major race groups are expected to shape the day’s action at Dover.
