Knox College Set for $319 Million Hurricane Recovery After Melissa Damage

1 min readClarendon

The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information has set aside more than $319 million to carry out post-Hurricane Melissa recovery work at Knox College in Clarendon. The allocation will fund restoration of classroom blocks, boarders' hostels and electrical installations across the campus.

State Minister Hon. Rhoda Moy Crawford disclosed the funding while delivering the main address at the institution's 2026 graduation ceremony in Spalding on Friday, July 3. She said the National Education Trust will manage the rehabilitation programme.

"We expect to commence and advance work during the summer holidays," she said.

Knox College suffered major structural and electrical damage when Hurricane Melissa struck in October 2025, affecting classrooms and other facilities and leading to the temporary closure of the campus.
