48-hour curfew declared in Naggo Head after Portmore gang attack kills two
Unease hangs over parts of Naggo Head in Portmore, St. Catherine, after an early Sunday morning burst of violence tied to a worsening gang dispute left two men dead and a pregnant woman hurt. Officers have ordered a 48-hour curfew across sections of the community to stop further killings.
The victims were identified as 17-year-old Kenrick Ebanks, also called Wealthy Stunt, and 20-year-old Michael Elliott Jr., known as Bull. Both were food delivery workers with Portmore addresses. Investigators link the attack to a long-running fight for control of turf in the area.
The curfew, which began yesterday, limits movement while police carry out operations in the community to calm tensions and block reprisals. Officials say the restriction is needed to contain the unrest, track down those behind the shootings, and show residents that order will be restored.
A relative of one of the dead men said she now fears for her life after gunmen targeted her home during the incident. She described locking herself in her room with her daughter, hearing calls for her mother, and then hearing three shots fired through the locked door. Her daughter broke out through a glass window before one attacker entered through the opening. "But the God that I serve, THE GOD THAT I SERVE," she said.
The family insists both men were not involved in the feud, and neighbours say the killings have deepened alarm across the district. Residents point to years of violence in Naggo Head, including a December 2021 arson that destroyed several homes and left multiple families without shelter.
With a large security force on the ground, many residents hope this response will finally ease a pattern of deadly clashes that has once again disturbed daily life in the area.
