‘Bunny’ set to leave Man City with Chelsea the favourites to land star striker — reports

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is set to leave Manchester City Women when her contract expires in June, with reports suggesting a £1 million offer from Chelsea FC Women is the leading option for the prolific striker.

Shaw, Manchester City’s all-time top scorer, is reportedly preparing to move on after contract extension talks with the club failed to produce an agreement.

The news comes shortly after City secured their first Women’s Super League title in a decade.

According to The Guardian, the Reggae Girl, who currently leads the league in scoring and is on course to claim a third straight Golden Boot award, had hoped to remain at Manchester City.

However, the report stated that both sides were unable to agree on key contract details, including the proposed length of a new deal.

The report added that while both the club and Shaw, a fan favourite at City, were disappointed by the outcome, Manchester City could not match the terms being offered elsewhere.

The latest reports follow claims that Chelsea is prepared to offer the Jamaican £1 million per year. Shaw has also reportedly attracted interest from several top clubs around the world, including Barcelona and multiple other teams in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Before her exit, Shaw is set to face Chelsea in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final and could make her final Manchester City appearance the following Saturday against West Ham.
