Anthony Anderson Named CEO Of Jamaica’s Reconstruction And Resilience Authority
Retired Major General Anthony Anderson has been appointed chief executive officer of the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority, with the announcement made at Wednesday’s post-Cabinet press briefing as Jamaica moves to strengthen preparations before the next hurricane season.
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness said the new authority is now backed by law, after the NARRA bill was signed by the Governor General. Anderson, who is currently Jamaica’s ambassador to the United States, is expected to assume the post on June 1, 2026.
Holness said Anderson brings the discipline, integrity and command experience needed for the role. He noted that the recruitment process was advertised internationally and attracted 120 applications, including 85 specifically for the CEO position.
According to the prime minister, the selection panel included the chairman of the Public Services Commission, the Cabinet Secretary, the Transformation Implementation Unit in the Ministry of Finance, the Port Authority of Jamaica and Steven Edwards from ENROCK. Holness said he was informed only of the final recommendation.
Anderson recently chaired Jamaica’s post-Hurricane Beryl disaster risk management review committee and has experience in public administration, national security, institutional leadership and crisis response.
Holness said the job must focus on delivery, not paperwork, describing the CEO in this context as a “chief executing officer” whose main responsibility is to get things done.
