Faith Barbee Eselebor, the Afro-Jamaican performer known professionally as Barbee, turned her appearance at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards into a fashion statement. At the event, she introduced African Barbee, a clothing brand built around African cultural expression and present-day design.
Barbee was born in New York City to a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother, and that mixed background is central to the image the label presents. African Barbee is part of the wider BRATTIES lifestyle brand.
Speaking with Ghana-based Asaase Radio, Barbee has explained that the label blends African culture with modern fashion ideas. She tied that vision to personal memories from her childhood in New York, when her father would return to the United States with African prints for her.
MyJoyOnline reported that the Ghana Music Awards gave African Barbee instant exposure before a Pan-African audience. The launch also placed the brand within a wider fashion moment, as global attention continues to look to Africa for creative influence.
