Brown-Burke urges psychosocial help for residents of violence-hit areas

Greater psychosocial assistance is needed for people living in violence-affected neighbourhoods, with children singled out as a priority, according to South West St. Andrew Member of Parliament Dr. Angela Brown Burke.

She raised the issue today while addressing a People’s National Party Women’s Conference held at St. Elizabeth Technical High School.

Dr. Brown Burke argued that ongoing contact with violence and related activity damages household wellbeing and, over time, undermines the wider society’s health. She urged that far more attention be given to tackling the problem.
