Carey McLeod gets two-year AIU ban over whereabouts breaches
Jamaican long jumper Carey McLeod has been suspended for two years by the Athletics Integrity Unit after recording three whereabouts rule breaches over a 12-month span.
The ban took effect on May 28, 2026, and is scheduled to run until May 27, 2028. That return date falls just over six weeks before the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
McLeod, a two-time national champion and bronze medallist at the 2024 World Indoor Championships, was cited by the AIU for a missed test and filing failure on June 30, 2025. The unit also listed a filing failure on August 9, 2025, and another missed test and filing failure on May 1, 2026.
According to the AIU, a notice of allegation was sent to McLeod on May 28, 2026, when he was also placed under provisional suspension with immediate effect.
McLeod, who finished fourth at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, later accepted that he had committed an anti-doping rule violation. He also agreed to the sanctions imposed by the AIU and gave up his right to have the matter heard by a disciplinary panel.
The AIU made the decision public on May 29.
