Cavalier, Los Perfectos look to secure JWL semi-final spots

Cavalier FC and Los Perfectos can complete the semi-final qualifiers in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League with wins in the ninth round of matches this afternoon.
If successful, the teams would join defending champions Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens in the last four.
Cavalier, on 15 points, could book their place from Zone A with a win over Arnett Gardens, while Los Perfectos need a point from their game against Real MoBay AFC to secure their semi-final berth.
Frazsiers Whip, Cavalier, Arnett Gardens, and Los Perfectos were the semi-finalists last season.
When they met in the first round, Cavalier and Arnett Gardens had ended 1-1. Another draw could see Cavalier through, depending on the result between third-placed WiFi United and fourth-placed Real Mona FC who meet at Merl Grove High.
A win for Arnett Gardens, however, would open the door for either WiFi or Real Mona to close the gap on Cavalier with one round of games remaining.
Shikira Douglas leads Arnett Gardens with 11 goals scored so far, while Tuanashae Hamilton, Sade Berry, and Suen Gregory combine for another 11. They will take on a Cavalier team that has managed just nine goals.
Real Mona, who have a game in hand, will hope they can use home advantage to their benefit when they host WiFi United. The teams played out a 3-3 result when they clashed earlier this season.
The game at Merl Grove could produce a handful of goals. Real Mona have scored 14 goals, the second most in Zone A. But they have also allowed 15, the second most as well. WiFi United have already conceded 17 times.
In Zone B, Los Perfectos will return to the semi-finals with at least a point from their game at home to Real MoBay AFC, a team they had beaten 3-0 earlier this season in Montego Bay.
Venicia Reid’s 12 goals for Los Perfectos is double Real MoBay’s total output of five goals scored. But the visitors will have some confidence, having taken four points from their last two games while not allowing a goal in that time.
Frazsiers Whip can afford to rest players for the encounter against Mile Gully after having already topped the zone with 22 points. Frazsiers Whip defeated Mile Gully 11-0 in their previous meeting in this campaign.
The title holders are coming off an 11-0 win over Springers United last weekend, and will start overwhelming favourites to extend their unbeaten record to nine straight.
