Emancipation and Independence programme to spotlight Jamaica's resilience, Grange says

1 min read

Jamaica's Culture Minister, Olivia Grange, says Emancipation and Independence activities this year will put the spotlight on how the country has withstood hardship, as communities keep rebuilding after Hurricane Melissa.

Marking 64 years since independence, the programme runs under the banner "United in Celebrating Resilience."

She outlined the plan at this morning's National Emancipation and Independence Thanksgiving Service.

Ms Grange added that the period ahead will open up many moments for people across Jamaica and in the diaspora to enjoy the country's cultural heritage and demonstrate their patriotism.
