Anthony Anderson says NARO must deliver recovery projects with speed and transparency
Major General (retired) Anthony Anderson, the newly appointed chief executive officer of the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority, says the agency’s performance will be assessed by its capacity to carry out major recovery projects at pace, with efficiency and transparency.
Anderson, who took up the NARO post on June 1, made the comments in a special interview with the Jamaica Information Service while responding to growing criticism surrounding his appointment.
He said the authority’s work should produce results that contribute meaningfully to Jamaica’s long-term development, particularly through projects assigned by Cabinet.
“At the core of it is that we actually deliver at scale with speed, transparently efficiently the projects that are given by the cabinet,” Anderson said.
He added that NARO will have to move quickly to develop its organisational structure and put in place systems capable of managing a programme of projects in an automated and effective manner.
According to Anderson, the immediate task is to build out the authority so it can properly oversee the projects under its remit and demonstrate value through timely delivery.
