CXC pilots modular CTEC exams at Dinthill Technical as ministry backs flexible study units

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information hosted Eduardo Ali, Pro-Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Examination Council, as he looked in on learners taking module one of the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate mathematics paper at Dinthill Technical High School in St Catherine.
Mr Ali, who operates from the council’s western zone headquarters in Jamaica, also spoke with school leaders about exam readiness and how the new CTEC award will be phased in.
CTEC is a modular credential from CXC that lets pupils earn credit in compact segments that can be sequenced to suit how rapidly they master each strand of a subject.
The trial phase opened in September 2025, and the first certificates are scheduled for release during the course of this year.
