St Catherine daycare operator discharged after $50,000 baby bite-mark settlement

1 min readSt. Catherine

A 48-year-old St Catherine daycare operator accused in a case involving bite marks on a baby was released from the matter in court on Tuesday after mediation ended with an apology and a $50,000 payment.

The woman had been before the St Catherine Parish Court on charges of neglect and cruelty to a child. She was discharged after the child’s mother accepted a mediated settlement.

The complaint arose from an April 21 incident. The mother reportedly noticed bite marks on her 10-month-old child while bathing the baby after collecting her from the daycare centre.

The matter was reported to the Spanish Town Police. Although the case was settled, the judge directed police to make further checks into whether the daycare facility is operating under the required licensing rules.
