Chang urges calm as St. Mary Airbnb host faces backlash over false TCN housing claim
National Security and Peace Minister Dr. Horace Chang has called on Jamaicans to refrain from directing hostility toward a St. Mary Airbnb operator whose premises were falsely linked to plans for housing Third Country Nationals (TCNs).
Dr. Chang said the unfounded reports have caused serious harm to the host, a retired Jamaican public servant. Her business has lost bookings, suffered financial setbacks, and endured considerable emotional strain as a result.
The minister urged the public not to target the property, its staff, or visitors. He disclosed that he has instructed the police to keep a close watch on the situation and encouraged citizens to respond with reason rather than rumour.
Dr. Chang also reaffirmed that the Government has not approved the transfer of any Third Country Nationals to any location in Jamaica at this time. He said no such relocation will occur until the required operational procedures are finalised.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has appealed to the public to rely only on verified information when discussing Jamaica's agreement with the United States.
