ST JAMES, Jamaica — An 87-year-old resident lost his life when fire swept through his dwelling at Top Melbourne in Montego Bay early on Wednesday.
Authorities have named the dead man as Cassiena Anglin, who loved ones called “Cassy”.
Neighbours noticed the property fully ablaze just after 2:00 a.m. and summoned the Jamaica Fire Brigade without delay. Two crews from the Montego Bay Fire Station arrived and worked to put out the fire.
While damping down the scene, firefighters came upon Anglin’s remains amid the blackened wreckage indoors. Officers from the constabulary were then brought in, and the body was taken away for a post-mortem examination.
Officials are still probing what sparked the fire.
