Share
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz says State-owned oil refinery Petrojam is set for about US$15 million in infrastructure upgrades as the Government seeks to strengthen Jamaica’s long-term energy security.
Speaking in Parliament, Vaz said the investment will include electrical works, new storage capacity, pipeline installations and furnace rehabilitation to improve efficiency and reliability.
He added that Petrojam is also projecting increased output and export sales, while continuing to absorb fuel costs linked to global price pressures to cushion consumers.
The minister described Petrojam as a strategic national asset, saying it will play a key role in energy resilience, regional supply and future cleaner fuel developments.
