With the project now at an impressive 90% completion, the transformative impact on the St. Ann community is certainly imminent. The highly anticipated project commenced on Thursday, October 5, 2023 and was wrapped up in January 2024. The scope of this undertaking is extensive, covering crucial elements such as: • Milling of asphalt pavement A section of the newly rehabilitated Fern Gully corridor •  Asphaltic concrete overlay spanning an area of 10,800 square meters • Road marking extending across 6,000 meters •  Installation of raised pavement markers (RPMs) The Fern Gully Road Rehabilitation project was allocated an overall budget of $31,671,400. This substantial investment underscores the commitment to infrastructure development and the positive impact it will have on the local community and the broader tourism industry. Preparation of road surface during rehabilitation work With only a few weeks remaining until the project’s anticipated completion, residents, including tourism interests, eagerly anticipated the unveiling of the revitalized Fern Gully. The road, with its rain forest features including beautiful flowers, has become a cornerstone of development and prosperity for St. Ann for many years. The partnership between the NWA and TEF to rehabilitate the road comes on the heels of other successful partnerships in St. James, Westmoreland, Hanover, Portland and Kingston.
