Flow Jamaica rolls out islandwide 5G as Ookla-verified fastest network
Flow Jamaica and Liberty Business Jamaica have officially launched a nationwide 5G network, with the company describing the rollout as a first for the local telecommunications sector.
Stephen Price, vice president and general manager of Flow Jamaica and Liberty Business Jamaica, said the network has been verified by Ookla as Jamaica's fastest and is now operating on fifth-generation mobile technology.
Price said Flow is the first telecommunications provider in Jamaica to deliver expansive next-generation mobile capabilities across the country. He described the launch as the culmination of months of intensive work and sustained effort, tied to the company's post-hurricane commitment to invest in the country's future.
"We have officially launched our 5G network," Price said. "Now becoming the first telecommunications provider in Jamaica to deliver expansive next generation mobile capabilities right across the country."
He said the milestone reflects what he called a collective belief in what the company is building, and pointed to immediate coverage gains for customers.
According to Price, mobile sites equipped with 5G now serve roughly 70 per cent of Jamaica's population, extending high-speed mobile access to a large share of the island.
