Floyd Green Urges Action at Jamaica Launch of Caribbean Week of Agriculture

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green has called Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) a chance for Caribbean countries to take greater control of the sector's direction. He said that goal depends on developing food systems that are contemporary and fit for the region's needs.
Green made the comments yesterday during the CWA launch at a summit in Kingston. Jamaica will stage the event from September 27 to October 2 under the theme "The New FACE of Caribbean Food Systems". FACE refers to food security, agri-business, climate-smart technologies and export expansion.
Organisers expect farmers, young people, entrepreneurs, innovators, policymakers, partners and other stakeholders to participate. Green said the theme points to how agriculture ought to be advanced across the Caribbean, adding that CWA should deliver action rather than remain only a forum for discussion.
