Several Garvey Maceo High students were injured in a crash involving a coaster bus along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon on Wednesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 a.m. while the students were travelling to school.
Preliminary reports from eyewitnesses suggest the driver may have run a red light before the collision. However, the driver reportedly stated off camera that the vehicle experienced brake failure prior to the crash.
School administrators confirmed that none of the students sustained life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, parents were contacted and travelled to the May Pen Hospital, where the students underwent X-rays and received treatment.
The crash came just one day after the school celebrated a major victory in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association Under-16 Rural High School Boys’ Cricket Competition.
