KINGSTON, Jamaica — Relatives from Gayle in St Mary are marking a $1-million windfall after topping the first Supligen Big Boost Games, a demanding 50-hour contest built around stamina, cooperation and grit.
Team Phoenix — Monique Brown Ramharrack, 36, her daughter Tanique Dunn, 19, and her nephew Rushane Williams, 19 — beat 49 other squads for first place. The challenge opened Thursday evening and wrapped up Saturday.
Each three-person side had to keep unbroken physical contact with the trademark Supligen Cup while working through successive tasks across the full 50 hours.
For the winners, the purse is expected to underwrite longer-term goals. They said they only committed after seeing a social media notice promoting the Big Boost Games less than a day before the start. Dunn then rounded up her mother and cousin and the group travelled from St Mary into Kingston to compete.
They credited discipline, teamwork and faith for carrying them through. Williams recalled praying during one bathroom break, and Brown Ramharrack stayed up through the night so the team never lost touch with the cup.
“This million-dollar win is not for me, it’s for them,” Brown Ramharrack said. “Tanique has always dreamed of studying overseas, and Rushane also has plans for his future. Now we have a head start on making those dreams a reality. There were moments when we almost got eliminated, but we trusted God, worked together as a family and stayed focused until the very end.”
Second place went to Team Vanguards, the content-creator trio of Tyewhan Eduh, 22, Jevar Henry, 30, and T’wayne Graham, 22. Each of the runners-up collected $100,000.
Supligen Brand Manager Deidra Grey said the Games were staged to mark the brand’s 50th anniversary and to spotlight traits long linked with the product.
“Watching the resilience, teamwork and determination displayed by every competitor over the past 50 hours was truly inspiring,” Grey said. “As we celebrate Supligen’s 50th anniversary, we wanted to reconnect with Jamaicans through a first-of-its-kind experience that reflects the values our brand has championed for five decades — strength, energy and resilience. Team Phoenix and Team Vanguards embodied those values from beginning to end, and we couldn’t be prouder of every team that accepted the challenge.”
