Carlos 'Goat Man' Williams charged in St Andrew round robin gun attack

A 38-year-old farmer who raises livestock is now before the justice system after police linked him to a gun-related attack and wounding in Penfield district, Gordon Town, St Andrew, earlier this year.
The accused has been identified as Carlos "Goat Man" Williams, who is from the Penfield district.
Detectives from the St Andrew North Police Division charged Williams with assault at common law, unlawful wounding, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Police say the incident happened between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, while the complainant was at a round robin event in Penfield.
According to investigators, a disagreement developed and three men allegedly set upon the complainant as the dispute turned violent.
One of the men was said to have had an assault rifle, while another was reportedly armed with a handgun.
During the clash, police allege that the complainant was hit in the face with the rifle, causing injuries to his forehead and mouth.
Investigators also said a shot was fired as the struggle unfolded, sending patrons at the event into alarm.
The men accused in the attack reportedly left the area soon after.
The injured man later went to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he received treatment and was discharged.
A formal report was made at the Constant Spring Police Station on March 24, and detectives from the St Andrew North Division began probing the matter.
Police said several operations were carried out as investigators tried more than once to find the men suspected of involvement, but those early efforts did not succeed.
The case moved forward on May 13, when Williams went in to investigators with his attorney.
Police said he was later interviewed in the presence of his lawyer as the investigation continued.
Investigators said Williams was subsequently placed on an identification parade, where a witness positively identified him.
After that identification parade and further enquiries, police formally charged Williams.
He is to face the Gun Court at a future date, while detectives continue their investigation.
