Members of the Holland High School Youth Key Club in Trelawny have extended care and support to elderly residents at Casa De Amor Nursing Home in Greenwood, St. James, through the donation of essential items.
The supplies included food, adult diapers, toiletries, bedding and medical items. They were purchased with funds raised from a football fundraising event organised by the club.
Youth Club Advisor and Acting Grade Supervisor Daniesha Onfroy said the project was guided by the club’s motto, “Caring as a Way of Life.” She noted that the students were moved by the needs of elderly persons, especially those who may receive little family support.
Nursing Home Supervisor Ashanti Osbourne welcomed the donation, saying the items would help residents who need daily necessities such as diapers, snacks and personal-care products.
Key Club President Leon Anderson described the initiative as a rewarding experience, adding that it showed the value of teamwork and service. Student volunteer Nkasha Benain said youth-led charity projects can inspire others while helping young people develop leadership skills.
The donation forms part of the club’s wider commitment to community service and supporting vulnerable groups.
