Hull City in talks for Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey
Hull City are in discussions to bring Leon Bailey across from Aston Villa as they rebuild for life back in the Premier League, according to media reports.
Football Today and The Athletic say the Tigers, Villa and Bailey’s camp have held talks in recent days about a possible summer switch.
Several clubs are monitoring the Jamaica international, among them Turkey’s Trabzonspor and Spain’s Celta Vigo. Bailey, however, prefers to continue his career in England.
The 28-year-old is said to fall outside manager Unai Emery’s plans at Villa Park, and the Birmingham club wants a permanent sale. Hull, newly back in the top flight, are likewise chasing a lasting signing rather than a temporary fix as they reshape the squad, the reports indicate.
Bailey moved to Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021. Across all competitions he has played 163 matches for the club, contributing 23 goals and 25 assists. Injury problems clouded his latest season. A year-long loan to Roma last summer yielded only one Serie A start because of fitness setbacks before Villa brought him back in January. He then featured in 13 Premier League games through the remainder of the campaign.
