The Jamaica Constabulary Force is mourning traffic officer Shaveen Davyy, 32, who died in a collision on the Boston Main Highway in Clarendon on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Davyy served with the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch in the Corporate Area. From Cricket in northern Manchester, he had previously served with the Department of Correctional Services. How the crash occurred has not been disclosed. The JCF praised him as a dedicated professional and extended condolences to his family and colleagues.

Constable Andrew Wilson, charged with murder in the MI7 shooting death of Granville, St James resident Latoya Bulggin, will have his case transferred to the St James Circuit Court on Monday, July 13. Wilson appeared before parish judge Kesha Grant Price in the St James Parish Court with King's Counsel Peter Champany and attorney Michael Hemmonds, and had his $1 million bail extended.

Wilson was arrested and charged on June 3 after the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled on May 29 that he should face prosecution. A nolle prosequi was filed to discontinue parish court proceedings, and a voluntary bill of indictment is to be submitted on July 13. CCTV footage circulated on social media shows a police officer firing at Bulggin's vehicle and placing her body into a police van, sparking protests in Granville and renewed calls for body-worn cameras in high-risk police operations.

St Ann police have intensified their search for Owen Hamilton, 66, also called Teacher or OG, missing for six days. Hamilton, of Sir Town, was last seen on Saturday, July 4, during a gravedigging exercise in Bamboo. He stands about six feet, weighs roughly 170 pounds, and has grey hair and brown eyes. Contact St Ann's Bay police at 876-841-2390 or 876-369-1450. Relatives will search Bamboo on Saturday, July 11; call Joseph Hamilton at 876-470-350.

A man and a woman were each fined $100,000 or 30 days in prison after pleading guilty to illegal lottery offences in Jonestown, Kingston 12. They were arrested in a May 29, 2026 joint operation by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission and the JCF, then convicted in the Halfway Tree Parish Court.

Three people, including a woman, were charged on Thursday in Central Village, St Catherine, after allegedly threatening a woman with firearms at about 1:00 p.m. on July 6. Nicada Witter Man, 22, of Central Village, and Dammani Brown, 27, and Shamar Brown, 30, both of Big Lane, Central Village, face charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and common-law assault. Police say two men in a car pointed guns at her as she walked to the station to report a prior dispute, then left with another person. A court date is being finalised.
