“If nurses are empowered, supported and equipped, the society will benefit from transformative healthcare.”

Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, Jillian Mason-Quarry, made the statement at yesterday’s service to mark the start of National Nurses’ Week at the May Pen Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clarendon.

It is being celebrated under the theme, “Our nurses. Our future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”.

Mrs. Mason-Quarry highlighted that the theme was timely, as empowered nurses are influential leaders who bring healing and hope to patients.

She said while the profession has faced many challenges over the years, including Hurricane Melissa last October, nurses continue to serve with compassion and dedication.

She saluted those in the sector who displayed selflessness, despite personal loss and hardship caused by the storm.
