Jamaica offers humanitarian help to Venezuela after June earthquakes
Jamaica is sending humanitarian aid to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following twin earthquakes that hit that country on June 24, 2026.
Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, said the move underscores Jamaica’s dedication to standing with neighbours in the region and the enduring diplomatic bond between Kingston and Caracas.
Speaking on Tuesday, she noted that Jamaica remains focused on its own recovery and reconstruction, yet has not disregarded the support Venezuela gave Jamaica right after Hurricane Melissa.
As efforts in Venezuela move from rescue operations toward recovery and rebuilding, foreign rescue units have started pulling out. Relatives are still looking for people who have not been found, and officials have started burying those who could not be identified.
Jamaica has conveyed its deepest sympathy to Venezuelans and again pledged to stand with partners across the region when disaster strikes.
