
Most JSE benchmarks rise in Friday session as turnover tops $221 million
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday ended with most benchmarks higher, as investors moved shares worth more than $221 million across the board.
The JSE Combined Index gained 2,395.32 points, or 0.67 per cent, to finish at 362,064.28. Turnover on that measure stood at 15,520,292 shares, valued at $221,104,363.21.
The main JSE Index rose 2,502.79 points, or 0.71 per cent, closing at 355,579.82. Volume reached 10,498,434 shares worth $215,888,587.62.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 5,202.98 points, or 1.25 per cent, to settle at 423,099.82. Activity totalled 8,662,053 shares valued at $96,950,351.72.
The JSE Select Index added 161.48 points, a 1.71 per cent gain, to end at 9,596.64. Trading amounted to 5,178,909 shares worth $80,051,838.89.
The JSE Cross Listed Index was the lone decliner among the headline measures, slipping 1.03 points, or 2.23 per cent, to 45.18. Volume on that index was 1,621,916 shares valued at $115,408,697.83.
The Junior Market Index edged up 0.32 points, or 0.01 per cent, to 3,076.23, with 5,021,858 shares changing hands for $5,215,775.59.
The JSE USD Equities Index advanced 2.88 points, or 1.18 per cent, to 246.84. Turnover stood at 447,663 shares worth $23,128.36.
The JSE Financial Index gained 0.64 points, or 0.95 per cent, closing at 68.33 on volume of 2,295,428 shares valued at $137,790,703.11.
The JSE Manufacturing and Distribution Index rose 0.17 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 119.78. Trading totalled 5,758,690 shares worth $15,861,276.71.
Across the market, 114 stocks saw activity. Gainers numbered 48, losers 44, and 22 issues closed unchanged.
Overall market volume reached 15,520,292 units, with a combined value of more than $221,104,363.21.
Supreme Ventures Limited led turnover with 2,397,905 shares, representing 15.02 per cent of activity. R.A. Williams Distributors Limited followed with 2,210,833 shares, or 13.85 per cent, while Massy Holdings Ltd traded 1,620,380 shares, accounting for 10.15 per cent of volume.
