JWPL semi-final return legs set to decide 2026 finalists

The 2026 Jamaica Women’s Premier League will know its two finalists today, with the semi-final return legs set for the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.

Three-time reigning champions Frazsiers Whip will meet Real Mona in the first match at 3 p.m., before Los Perfectos and Arnett Gardens contest the second game at 6 p.m.

Frazsiers are strongly placed to reach another final after beating Real Mona 5-0 in the opening leg. Arnett also enter the day with an advantage, but their 3-2 first-leg win leaves Los Perfectos firmly in the contest.

Frazsiers are chasing a fourth consecutive JWPL crown and have strengthened their claim with a perfect run so far this season. With Courtney Dowdie in charge, the champions are expected to manage the second leg without major difficulty.

Dowdie credited his squad for their work across the campaign and said the team must now complete the mission by lifting the trophy. Even with a large aggregate lead, he said Frazsiers will not treat today’s match as a formality.

“The approach is to go to the game with a scoreline of 0-0,” Dowdie explained.

“We will treat it as a brand- new game.; Iit's a fresh 90 minutes, so it's just for us to go there and see how best we can execute against Real Mona.”

Dowdie said the coaching staff will keep the players focused on producing at their highest level, rather than easing off because of the first-leg score.

“What we do as a coaching staff is we try to give them a bigger picture, give them a bigger purpose.Wwe try to let them look at the bigger picture of what they can achieve by going all the way in this competition.”

The other semi-final is expected to be far tighter, with two closely matched sides still fighting for a place in the final.

Arnett hold the edge after their 3-2 result, but Los Perfectos remain dangerous, especially through experienced striker Venicia Reid.

Los Perfectos coach Ricardo Martin praised Reid after she scored twice in the first meeting to keep his team alive in the tie. Martin said he expects an improved showing from his players as they try to overturn the deficit.

“A two-goal lead, it's a higher mountain to climb. So now it is just a goal. s Iit's just to figure out how we're going to get that one goal and then we take it from there,” Martin said.

“When we arrive here again, they will understand what it is, and I'm pretty sure they will give us a better account.”
