Kevin Hart Netflix roast brings Brady, Williams and a festival of celebrity barbs

Sunday night on Netflix became a wide-open comedy arena as The Roast of Kevin Hart lined up comedians, athletes and celebrities to take shots at the headline act before a full house and an even noisier internet crowd.

Shane Gillis hosted the special during the Netflix Is a Joke Festival. The lineup included Tom Brady, Dwayne Johnson, Katt Williams and Draymond Green among the familiar faces trading punchlines.

Brady’s segment drew strong notice when he answered the family-themed jokes aimed at him during his 2024 roast. Williams’ turn also stood out, as his appearance with Hart read like a public easing of a long-running feud. The pair had previously exchanged open criticism over success, industry politics and comedy careers, yet shared the stage with noticeably lighter energy—odd, but measured.

The night also left behind unaired material that roast writer Madison Sinclair later brought to light, including sharper gags aimed at celebrities such as Lizzo and Gillis and others who took stray hits whether they were prepared or not.

By the close, the event felt less like a standard roast special and more like a celebrity group chat beamed onto Netflix in real time.
