Dancehall star Konshens drops a 12-track album reimagining the classic “Old Dog” alongside Beenie Man and Dave Kelly, while blending Caribbean, Latin, and global influences

Konshens plans to expand his crossover formula

Jamaican dancehall star Konshens released his new album Pool Party 2.0 on Friday, May 8, serving as the follow-up to his Pool Party project that helped solidify his status as one of dancehall’s leading crossover acts.

On the album, Konshens expands on that formula across 12 tracks, featuring collaborations with producers and artistes from Jamaica and overseas markets. The track “Like We” featuring dancehall icon Beenie Man, a modern revamp of Beenie Man’s 1996 classic “Old Dog,” originally produced by legendary Dave Kelly for Madhouse Records and featured on the influential “Stink” riddim.

Co-produced by Dave Kelly, the track blends the nostalgia and energy of the original with a fresh, contemporary sound aimed at today’s global dancehall audience, while reuniting one of the genre’s legendary producers with one of its modern crossover stars.

Other tracks on the album include collaborations such as “Look Good Remix” featuring UK-based dancehall artiste Stylo G and “Badman Remix” with rising dancehall star Ayetian, alongside songs like “Perfect Timing,” “Rum Club,” and “South Side.”

The project is primarily produced by IZYBEATS and SUBMACHINE ENT, with additional production from Dave Kelly, Tony Kelly, Jonny Blaze, Stadic, King Kosa, and Symon Dice.

Blending dancehall with Caribbean, Latin, and international influences, the album maintains a sound deeply rooted in Jamaican party culture.
