Lucea push for third straight win as JFF Championship qualifiers resume

1 min readHanover

Lucea return to the Colin Miller Sports Complex today aiming for a third successive victory in Jamaica Football Championships Qualifying when they welcome Faulkland in a Group D fixture.

The home side remain unbeaten after two outings, having beaten Russia and Coopers Pen. They come off a 5-0 win over Russia on Sunday and have conceded only one goal across both matches. Goals are again expected from Aquille Brown, Romario Atkinson and Eshane Brown.

Faulkland arrive needing a response. Regarded as one of the stronger sides in the qualifying round, they were beaten 2-0 at home by Coopers Pen on Saturday and must steady a campaign that has started below expectations.

Also in Group D, Coopers Pen travel to face Russia, who are still without a point after two losses. Coopers Pen will look to record a second win in a row.

Leadership of Group C is on the line at Singh Quarry, where Cross United and Mile Gully meet. Both sit on three points, separated only by goal difference. Each has already defeated Vineyard, with Mile Gully winning 2-0 and Cross United edging a 3-2 contest.

In Group A, Browns Town and Cedar Grove Estate meet while still searching for a first win after drawing their opening fixtures. York United lead the group on two points, and another draw among the three would leave all level on points.

At Drax Hall in Group B, Kings Football Academy face Portlanders with different targets. A win would move Kings level with leaders Axum on four points, while Portlanders hope to recover from defeat in their only match so far.
