Kingston man charged after St Andrew shooting death, arrest in St Ann

Police have charged a Kingston 13 man in connection with a deadly shooting in St Andrew after investigators detained him this week in St Ann.

Andre Brown, 21, also known as 'Biggs', of Fitzgerald Avenue, Kingston 13, is facing charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

The case relates to the death of Tyrick Peart, 26, of Bertram Lane, Kingston 13. Peart was shot along Freeman Lane in St Andrew on Sunday, March 1.

According to the Hunts Bay police, about 9:00 p.m., Brown was allegedly carrying a gun and was with other men when the group confronted Peart. Investigators say shots were fired at Peart before the attackers left the community.

When the gunfire ended, Peart was discovered with several bullet wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he was later declared dead.

Police say their probe led them to Brown during an operation in St Ann on Monday, May 18.

He was later charged after recorded statements were taken and a question-and-answer interview was conducted.

Arrangements are being made for Brown to appear before the court.
