A St Catherine man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend, Tieah Singh, died days after she was allegedly injected with a toxic substance during a domestic dispute.
The accused, 51-year-old Paul Stephenson, otherwise known as “Pablo,” of New Harbour Village, St Catherine, was initially charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. However, the charge was upgraded following the death of 29-year-old Tieah Singh of Old Paisley district in May Pen, Clarendon.
Reports from investigators indicate that the couple became involved in an argument at about 10:00 a.m. on June 9. During the dispute, Stephenson allegedly used a syringe to inject Singh with a toxic substance and later sprayed her with pepper spray.

While undergoing treatment, it was reportedly discovered that the substance allegedly used was a toxic agricultural chemical.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Singh succumbed on Thursday.
Following her death, detectives assigned to the Old Harbour Police launched further investigations and subsequently charged Stephenson with murder.
He remains in police custody and is expected to appear before the court at a later date.
