ST JAMES, Jamaica — A 67-year-old man who allegedly ingested a poisonous substance after fatally attacking his wife has died while receiving treatment in hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Jocelin Wellington. His wife, 62-year-old Marcia Wellington, died on Wednesday after sustaining multiple chop wounds during a reported domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the couple allegedly became involved in an argument over divorce-related matters when Marcia was attacked with a sharp weapon.
Investigators said Jocelin Wellington is believed to have ingested a poisonous substance shortly after the incident.
Law enforcement officers were summoned to the scene, where Marcia was found lying on a staircase with multiple chop wounds and bleeding heavily. Both were transported to hospital, where Marcia was pronounced dead. Jocelin was admitted under police guard but later died on Thursday while undergoing treatment.
Police are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
