Mandeville police recover stolen goods, ask victims to claim property

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Officers attached to Mandeville have called on residents who lost property to theft to come forward and examine goods held at the Mandeville Police Station after items taken from three locations were seized last Friday.

The finds emerged during a police sweep through Greenvale, a community long linked to crime, and nearby Hatfield. Authorities were hunting people sought in connection with break-ins when they came upon a wide assortment of property: poker machine components, televisions, mobile phones, a battery charger, cameras, tools, an audio mixer, speakers, and other equipment.

Most of what was retrieved consisted of poker box parts. Investigators say those components fetch strong prices on the black market.

A comparable public notice went out in May after a Mile Gully raid turned up scores of articles believed to have been stolen. That haul covered electronics, household appliances and fittings, curtains, plumbing pieces such as toilets and faucets, doors, and additional goods.

Anyone whose home or business was entered and robbed may attend the Mandeville Police Station with details that can confirm ownership of the recovered material.
