Met Gala 2026 Turns Red Carpet Into Living Gallery With 'Fashion Is Art' Theme

Fashion's most-watched fundraiser returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May, drawing the global style set back to New York for another evening where couture and philanthropy share the spotlight.
Organisers set the brief as 'Fashion is Art', a directive that nudged guests toward looks treating the body as canvas rather than mannequin. The result was a procession of pieces that read more like exhibits than outfits.
Sculptural silhouettes anchored much of the carpet, alongside hand-painted surfaces and unapologetic blocks of colour. Designer Brandon Blackwood was among those whose contributions helped drive the night's most talked-about appearances.
Something Extra rounds up the highlights from the evening.
