ST JAMES, Jamaica — A house fire in Top Melbourne, Montego Bay, claimed the life of an 87-year-old man in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The victim has been named as Cassiena Anglin, who was known to many as “Cassy.”
Reports say neighbours spotted flames consuming the dwelling shortly after 2:00 a.m. and contacted the Jamaica Fire Brigade without delay. Two appliances from the Montego Bay Fire Station were dispatched and brought the fire under control.
While carrying out cool-down duties, firefighters found Anglin’s remains amid the burned wreckage of the property. Officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force were summoned, and the body was taken away for a post-mortem examination.
Authorities are still looking into what sparked the blaze.
