Nautical Star Takes SVL Anniversary Trophy in Commanding Caymanas Park Win
Nautical Star produced a wire-to-wire performance to claim the $1.4-million Supreme Ventures Limited Anniversary Trophy at Caymanas Park on Saturday. Under Omar Walker for trainer Anthony Nunes, the six-year-old American-bred horse broke cleanly and moved to the front early, holding a measured pace before drawing clear on the bend for home and keeping his rivals at bay to the finish.
He passed the post seven and a half lengths ahead of stablemate Barnaby, ridden by Reyan Lewis, with Don Kwesi and Demar Williams filling third. The mile was covered in 1:35.3 in the Open Allowance feature, with splits of 24.4, 46.1, 1:09.4 and 1:22.1.
The result marked Nunes's third winner of the day. He had earlier scored with Kusmi, partnered by Tajay Suckoo, in race seven, and Another Wow, again with Lewis aboard, in the 11th and final race. Racing continues today.
