Members of the Santa Cruz Police Youth Club carried out Labour Day work at Santa Cruz Primary School, helping with painting and improvements to the school garden.

Ramona O'Hara, president of the club, said she and her team were on the school compound to assist with several outdoor tasks. The work included painting sections of the property, clearing bush from the garden, helping to improve the garden area, and painting tyres used around the space.

A senior teacher at Santa Cruz Primary said the school still has several needs that would improve conditions for students and staff. The teacher said the auditorium requires tiling to make the space more comfortable for school activities.

The school is also seeking support for sports development. According to the teacher, Santa Cruz Primary wants its netball court properly marked and needs equipment, including hoops and balls, so students can practise more regularly.

The teacher also pointed to the computer room, saying more devices are needed so the school can serve a larger number of students. A foundation identified in the transcript as the JSON Foundation had made a previous donation, but the school still needs additional gadgets.

Classroom resources are also on the wish list. The teacher said the school would welcome more desks, chairs, comfortable seating for teachers and students, and books to help strengthen literacy among pupils.
