NTEI trainee Reggie Williams backs industrial electronics course for JDF engineering career
Reggie Williams, a trainee at the National Tool and Engineering Institute (NTEI), says he chose the school because of its standing as a centre of excellence and because industrial electronics Level Two was available when he was ready to enrol.
Williams said electronics has long held his interest and that his career goal is to join the engineering department of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF). He described engineering as work he has always found engaging.
He now rates NTEI highly, pointing first to teachers he said are emotionally present for students. He credited the institute with taking trainees on field trips to industrial workplaces, including Wisynco, where classroom practicals closely match what they observe on site.
Williams also praised the currency of the programme. He said classes stay up to date, and whenever industrial settings change, students are taught about those shifts. He added that the training has shown him how to operate in the world of work, and said he is grateful for that preparation.
The account outlines a vocational path from technical electronics study toward defence-sector engineering, with industry visits used to reinforce what is taught in class.
