The Commission notes that concerns regarding the integrity of sections of the pipeline were identified prior to the passage of Hurricane Melissa . Subsequent post - event assessments confirmed that approximately 3 kilometres of pipeline infrastructure were significantly impacted, necessitating extensive rehabilitation works. It is worth noting that while the substan tial part of Martha Brae - Salt Marsh area has been restore d, more time and resources is necessary to restore pockets of the network such as this one . The current scope of works is aimed not only at restoring water su pply in the shortest possible time, but also at addressing longstanding vulnerabilities within the network to support improved reliability over the long term. These efforts include the replacement of damaged pipeline sections and the strengthening of criti cal interconnections. The NWC reports that works are now approximately 30% complete. Upon completion of pipeline installation activities, additional time will be required to conduct pressure testing and sterilisation of the system to ensure that water qual ity and service standards are fully met prior to the resumption of supply. Based on current progress, the Commission is targeting completion of these works and the phased restoration of service by May 15, 2026 . We recognise the inconvenience being experien ced and understand the frustration of affected customers. In the interim, the Commission will provide scheduled trucked water support to assist residents while restoration works progress. The NWC also acknowledges concerns raised by customers regarding the receipt of bills during periods of disrupted supply. The Commission advises that immediate checks and investigations have commenced into these reports and is encouraging affected customers to make contact as these reviews are undertaken. The NWC thanks cu stomers for their continued patience and understanding as we work to restore safe and reliable water supply to the affected areas. - END - CONTACTS: Corporate Public Relations Department 876 727 - 805 4 - EXT 4519 Email: [email protected]
