Oil prices climb as US-Iran attacks unsettle Strait of Hormuz outlook
Crude prices advanced for a third straight session after new US-Iran attacks raised uncertainty over whether any peace arrangement would allow the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened.
West Texas Intermediate crude increased 2.4 per cent and closed at US$96 a barrel, taking its rise for the week to roughly 9.6 per cent.
The US military said it was hit by missiles and drones on Tuesday soon after striking an empty oil tank that was heading to Iran. Iran, in turn, attacked the main US naval installation in the region and another base in Kuwait.
