PNP offers condolences after Guyana MV Barima ferry disaster

Jamaica’s People’s National Party (PNP) has conveyed its deepest sympathy to the Government and citizens of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana after the ferry MV Barima overturned, claiming lives and leaving several people still missing.

Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, the Opposition Spokesperson on Foreign, Regional and Diaspora Affairs, delivered the Party’s message of support, stating: “The heartbreaking events unfolding in Guyana have deeply saddened us all. On behalf of the People’s National Party, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have suffered unimaginable loss and to those who continue to await news of their loved ones. We keep the people of Guyana in our thoughts during this difficult period and commend the courage and dedication of the rescue personnel who continue their tireless efforts.”

The PNP also underlined its standing with Guyanese communities and voiced assurance that Caribbean togetherness will help steer the region while Guyana deals with the consequences of the disaster.
