Police examine possible connection in Maurice Fennell and Kedecia McLeod deaths
Detectives are continuing checks into whether the deaths of 50-year-old Maurice Fennell and 40-year-old Kedecia McLeod are connected, after both were discovered yesterday morning in different parishes.
Fennell is believed to have died by suicide in Standfast, Brown’s Town, St. Ann. Residents came upon him about 6:00 a.m. with what seemed to be a gunshot injury to the head. Police reported that a Glock pistol was recovered beside him, and it has been verified that he held a firearm licence. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Later, McLeod was found dead in bushes at Nain, St. Elizabeth. She had been listed as missing on Monday, June 8.
Police also moved to correct claims that Fennell was a member, or past member, of the Jamaica Constabulary Force or the Major Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency. Those claims followed reports describing him as a policeman. Investigators have established that Fennell worked as a security guard and was from Cambridge, St. James.
MOCA is asking anyone who can assist with information about the incidents to contact the JCF or call its anonymous tip line at 888-MOCA-tip.
