JCF Commissioner Blake salutes mothers in Force Orders message before Mother’s Day

Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has praised women who are mothers while wearing the uniform of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, saying their steady presence helps hold up homes, neighbourhoods and the nation as a whole.
The remarks appear in the most recent Force Orders, timed for the run-up to Mother’s Day, and single out mothers inside the service while also acknowledging mothers and women who stand in that role for families across Jamaica.
“As we approach the celebration of Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to honour and appreciate the mothers among us; those within our ranks, within our families, and across our communities,” Dr Blake said.
He said mothers remain key to teaching right from wrong, helping young people bounce back from hardship and steering those who will follow.
“Mothers carry a profound responsibility in shaping character, instilling values, and nurturing resilience in the next generation,” he said.
Dr Blake also spoke about how mothers and mother-figures have marked the lives of many people inside the constabulary and countless citizens beyond its gates.
“Many of us draw strength and inspiration from the sacrifices and selfless support of mothers and mother figures in our lives,” he added.
He singled out mothers on active duty for extra praise, noting how they juggle shift work and public obligation with what they give up privately and what they owe at home.
“To the mothers who continue to balance the demands of family, service, and personal sacrifice with grace, we salute you,” he said.
The statement fits a wider JCF effort to speak openly about officers as people and to underline that stable families and engaged communities matter to how the country moves forward.
Dr Blake added that Mother’s Day should nudge every Jamaican toward thanking and treating kindly the women who keep doing heavy lifting for the nation.
“May this occasion remind us all to express gratitude, extend kindness, and cherish the invaluable role that mothers play in building stronger families, stronger communities, and ultimately, a stronger Jamaica,” the Commissioner said.
He closed by wishing a happy Mother’s Day to mothers in the ranks and to mothers throughout the island.
