Portmore United FC crowned Champions of 2026 KFC U-18 Elite Cup Final

Excitement filled the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on  May 16, as Jamaica’s top young football talent battled for glory in the 2026 KFC U-18 Elite Cup Final.

After weeks of intense competition, first-time entrants Portmore United FC emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, capturing the championship title impressively despite a challenging start.

Portmore United FC overcame early setbacks in the competition and steadily built momentum throughout the tournament, ultimately delivering a standout performance in the final to secure the coveted title.

Last year’s champions, Mount Pleasant Academy, finished in third place following another strong showing in the competition, while Kingston Football Academy claimed second place after an impressive run to the finals.

As part of their championship reward, Portmore United FC received a $100,000 prize courtesy of SocksXpress, which will allow the team to purchase items from the store to support their continued development.

Throughout the event, Malta added to the vibrant atmosphere by providing refreshments and branded items for spectators, helping to create an exciting and engaging match day experience for fans and supporters.

“The growth and energy surrounding the KFC U-18 Elite Cup this season has been truly remarkable, and we are incredibly proud of the level of talent, discipline and passion displayed by these young athletes throughout the competition,” said Andre Roper, KFC Brand Manager.

“As we look ahead, KFC is excited about the future of the tournament, and we are committed to seeing it grow even bigger and better next season. We extend gratitude to the patrons and football supporters who came out and created an atmosphere at every stage of the competition, as well as the individual sponsors and partners whose support helped make this year’s tournament a success.”

Junior Brand Manager for Malta, Laurice Griffiths, expressed that “Even though the team we sponsored did not take home the title, we are extremely proud of their journey and commend Kingston Football Academy on securing second place, which is still a tremendous achievement.”

“We also want to congratulate Portmore United FC on an outstanding victory and a well-deserved win. Malta remains committed to supporting grassroots development and creating opportunities for young athletes to showcase their talent, build discipline and pursue their passion for football.”

The KFC U-18 Elite Cup continues to serve as an important platform for the development of Jamaica’s young football talent, showcasing the skill, discipline and determination of the country’s next generation of players.
