1 min readSt. Ann

Organisers of Reggae Sumfest will honour the late singer Fantan Mojah at A Taste of Reggae Sumfest on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Plantation Cove in St. Ann, recognising the contribution of a widely admired figure in Jamaican music.

Mojah died on July 14 at 49. He was known for championing conscious reggae and for standing firmly behind message-driven songwriting.

His most recent appearance on the Sumfest stage came in 2025, when he gave a set that showcased his drive, sincerity and steadfast messaging.

Festival chief executive Joe Bogdanovich said Sumfest feels privileged to mark what Mojah gave to Jamaica’s music culture. He said “Fantan Mojah was a true soldier for reggae music. His lyrics carried purpose, his performances were heartfelt, and his commitment to uplifting people through music never wavered. We are deeply saddened by his passing, and on July 18 we will honour his life, his artistry and the lasting impact he made on reggae and on the Sumfest family. His spirit will forever be part of our stage.”

The remembrance will sit within that evening’s lineup, giving supporters, other performers and the broader reggae public space to recall and salute Mojah’s lasting place in the music.
