
Reid and Taylor among the highlights on final day of National Championships
Alana Reid and Demisha Roswell produced personal best times to be crowned first time national champions on Sunday’s final day of the JAAA Puma National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium.
Reid clocked an impressive 22.29 seconds to land the women’s 200m final ahead of Lavanya Williams 22.44 (PB) and last year’s champion Ashanti Moore 22.45 seconds.
Roswell also secured her maiden national title after posting a new lifetime best of 12.40 seconds to upstage defending champion Megan Simmonds who returned a season’s best 12.47 seconds.
Elsewhere on the women’s side, Sanique Walker also captured her first national title, clocking a personal best 54.56 seconds to land the women’s 400m hurdles title.
In the men’s section, former schoolboy prodigy Christopher Taylor returned a wind-assisted 20.09 seconds to win the 200m crown ahead of Jevaughn Powell 20.14 seconds and Roshawn Clarke 20.28 seconds. Demario Prince was victorious in the men’s 110m hurdles in 13.13 seconds.
